Over many years guitarist/composer Budge Schachte has led a group of very talented and eclectic players performing his original compositions and arrangements in numerous music festivals and concert venues; including, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Whistler Music Festival, PNE Jazz Series, the Glass Slipper and many others…
(playing originals and covers) They adeptly move through a myriad of music styles including; jazz, latin, pop, funk, folk, soul and world music…like a prism of beautiful colours piercing through a smoky urban haze.

Budge Schachte - guitar (composer, producer, educator)
Budge has worked with a stellar cast of diverse artists from poets and world music groups to jazz ensembles, pop artists, symphony orchestras and everything in-between. With tours in various parts of the world including; US, Europe, Canada, China, Hawaii, Caribbean, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Mexico, Alaska, Panama. He has twice been reviewed in Downbeat Magazine.
Budge co-leads the well known eclectic string ensemble "Van Django”…who have recorded 4 CD’s.
His playing is featured on the feature film soundtracks; "Head In The Clouds”, ”Eulogy" and ”Love And Other Dilemmas" for which he composed, recorded and performed the soundtrack.
Current projects include; “Van Django”, “Wilson/Schachte Duo” (with violinist, Cameron Wilson), “Karen/Budge Duo” (with saxophonist Karen Graves)…”Budge & Graham duo” (with saxophonist, Graham Ord), Peter Van’s “Groove Syndicate”, KJB jazz trio and numerous other musical collaborations.
Graham Ord - sax, flute, EWI, percussion
Multi instrumentalist Graham Ord has been playing music for many decades.
Curiosity in music has always been at the fore resulting in performances ranging from french waltzes through Irish fiddle tunes to rock, jazz and free form improvisations. Spontaneous compositions alone or with others is also utilized.
Ord has travelled extensively with his music and has appeared on many recordings. Featured ensembles include The Hard Rubber Orchestra, The N.O.W. Orchestra, Garbo’s Hat, Brass Roots, Kathy Kidd’s Kongo Mambo, Sumalao, Shango Ashe and ANAGRAM.
Dennis Burke - drums
A professional musician for over 40 years, Dennis has performed extensively in North America, Europe, and Asia. This has included stints with, Mose Allison, Jay Clayton, Sheila Jordan, Herb Ellis, Bud Shank, Jack Sheldon, Big Miller, Pepper Adams, and Ernestine Anderson.
Dennis is also a multi award-winning composer, sound designer, and re-recording mixer for film and television, Dennis is credited for over 125 films, television specials and series’ which can be seen regularly in theatres, festivals, network and cable TV.
Dennis is Professor Emeritus at Emily Carr University of Art and Design where he served as Professor and Associate Dean for over 30 years. Currently he’s an Adjunct Lecturer at Cal State University in Long Beach, CA.
