Aleksi Campagne May 15
Named Penguin Eggs & Roots Music Canada's New Discovery of the Year, Aleksi Campagne offers a contemporary, indie-folk take on the time-honoured fiddle-singing tradition.
Born and raised in Montreal, Aleksi’s music blends folk songwriting with an edgy, multi-layered sound resulting from his unique combination of voice, violin and looping-effect pedals.
His debut album For The Giving / Sans rien donner won a Canadian Folk Music Award 2024 for French Songwriter of the Year and is fully bilingual, offering 10 songs in French and the same 10 songs in English.
Musically, Aleksi weaves a sound of violin, powerful voice, looping and effects pedals that is at once intimate and expansive, grounded in heritage yet sonically modern. Aleksi consciously integrates Québec’s traditional fiddling heritage, while addressing deeply contemporary concerns such as the search for home family legacy and the climate crisis. Ultimately, Aleksi’s music is an attempt at reconciliation: between tradition and modernity, between French and English, between personal trajectory and collective horizon.
Since then, Aleksi’s career has been a whirlwind. In January 2026, he won First Place at the prestigious Ma Première Place des Arts competition in Montreal, also receiving the Prix Distinction de la Caisse Desjardins de la Culture, the Stingray Star Prize, and the Hydro-Québec Song of the Year Award.
Aleksi has performed over 120 professional shows across Canada since 2023, performing at major festivals including the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, Mariposa Folk Festival, Canmore Folk Festival, Regina Folk Festival, Bear Creek Music Festival, and Live From the Rock.
